A Self-Contained City Within Johannesburg

Steyn City is a genuinely unique development, spanning around 2,000 acres, roughly six times the size of Sandton City and two and a half times the size of New York’s Central Park, designed as a self-contained parkland residence rather than a conventional suburb. Sandwiched between Dainfern Golf Estate and Diepsloot, the estate was the vision of insurance magnate Douw Steyn, transforming what was once barren land into one of the most talked-about residential developments in the country. With property prices ranging from around R2 million to R70 million, Steyn City caters to an exceptionally broad range of homeowners, all drawn to a lifestyle built around extensive parkland, lakes, and world-class amenities.

Steyn City’s Local Landmarks

The estate’s 18-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed championship golf course, complete with an award-winning clubhouse, sits at the heart of Steyn City, alongside a world-class equestrian centre with 36 stables and Olympic-size arenas. Residents have access to a 300-metre lagoon, a skate park, fishing dams, 50 kilometres of mountain bike trails, and 35 kilometres of pedestrian and running routes, along with tennis courts, outdoor gyms, and swimming pools. The estate includes its own retail and dining precinct, offices, and the Steyn City School, catering to learners from Grade 000 through to matric. Nearby amenities include Broadacres Shopping Centre, Dainfern College, and Life Fourways Hospital, with Sandton CBD around 18 kilometres away and Lanseria International Airport roughly 12.5 kilometres away.

Reupholstery for Steyn City’s Modern Homes

Steyn City’s wide range of architectural styles, from luxury apartments to sprawling custom-built family homes, means furniture demand here varies considerably. We handle full reupholstery for Steyn City homes, rebuilding structure and padding along with fitting fresh fabric that suits the estate’s generally contemporary, design-forward character, whatever scale of home you’re furnishing.

Leather and Dining Furniture for Steyn City Homes

Our chair upholstery work is a regular request from Steyn City addresses, particularly for larger homes with dedicated entertaining spaces designed to take full advantage of the estate’s lifestyle. Leather furniture is also common throughout the estate’s more contemporary living rooms, and our leather upholstery service handles cracking, fading, and peeling leather with an honest recommendation on repair versus a re-cover.

Outdoor Furniture for Steyn City’s Parkland Lifestyle

With Steyn City built almost entirely around outdoor living, from its lakes and running trails to homes positioned to take in golf course or parkland views, outdoor furniture sees serious daily use across the estate. We recover and refill outdoor cushions and patio seating using weather-rated fabric built to handle Johannesburg’s sun and summer storm season far better than repurposed indoor material.

Discreet Collection for Steyn City’s Secure Estate

We coordinate collection and delivery around Steyn City’s biometric access control and security requirements, working with estate security or household staff as needed to keep the process straightforward despite the estate’s scale.

Serving Steyn City and Its Neighbouring Estates

We collect and deliver furniture from Steyn City and its neighbouring areas — Dainfern, Fourways, and Midrand — bringing everything back to our Ferndale workshop for the actual work.

Furniture for Steyn City’s Equestrian Centre and Amenities

With Steyn City’s world-class equestrian centre, clubhouse, and range of dining and retail amenities all forming part of daily life on the estate, we occasionally work on furniture for these shared spaces too — clubhouse seating and lounge furniture that takes different, often heavier use than a private home. Durable, hard-wearing fabric keeps this kind of furniture looking good despite constant member and guest use.

Furnishing Steyn City’s New-Build Homes

As one of the country’s newest large-scale developments, a significant number of Steyn City’s homes are newly built, and furniture here is often bought new alongside the home itself. We’re happy to advise on fabric and design choices for first-time furnishing, as well as our usual reupholstery work for furniture that’s already had a few years of use on the estate.

Furniture at the Scale Steyn City Calls For

With homes on the estate ranging from apartments to sprawling custom-built residences, and communal facilities spread across nearly 2,000 acres, furniture projects here sometimes operate at a genuinely different scale to a typical suburban job. We’re set up to handle larger, multi-piece projects across a single Steyn City property, coordinating fabric and finish consistently across everything from a main lounge suite to guest room furniture.

A Development Built for the Long Term

Steyn City’s scale and ambition suggest a development built to be lived in and enjoyed for decades, not a short-term investment. That same long-term thinking applies well to furniture too — reupholstering a well-built piece to last another decade fits naturally with an estate designed around permanence and quality rather than quick turnover.

Coordinating Larger Steyn City Projects

For homeowners furnishing a full new build on the estate, or refreshing furniture across several rooms at once, we’re happy to plan the work as a single coordinated project rather than a series of separate jobs. This usually means more consistent fabric sourcing, a clearer overall timeline, and fewer separate conversations needed to get an entire home’s furniture looking right together.

A Development Unlike Anywhere Else We Work

Steyn City’s scale and ambition make it genuinely unlike any other suburb or estate we serve, and we’ve adjusted how we plan collection, quoting, and larger projects specifically to suit it. Whether it’s a single piece from an apartment near the retail precinct or a full custom-built home overlooking the golf course, we scope the job to the property in front of us.

Furniture for Steyn City’s School and Sporting Families

With Steyn City School based on the estate and such a strong emphasis on outdoor recreation, from mountain biking trails to the equestrian centre, family life here tends to be genuinely active. Furniture in these households sees real daily use, and we recommend durable, easy-clean fabric that holds up to an active family’s pace without needing constant special care.
